Our story
Found in a quiet moment
While travelling through Japan, we were drawn to the way matcha was woven into everyday life. Not as a trend, but as a simple moment of pause. The preparation was unhurried, the process intentional, and even the smallest cup created space to slow down.
Returning home, we found ourselves missing that feeling more than anything else. The sense of presence. The opportunity to step away from the pace of the day, if only for a moment.
We wanted to share that experience through carefully sourced matcha, crafted for everyday moments of calm.
That’s what TAE Matcha House is.
A small ritual for your everyday.
A pause in the middle of whatever today looks like.
A reminder that presence is something you can practise, one cup at a time.
OUR MATCHA
Made for four rituals
Our range is sourced from Yame, Fukuoka, a Japanese region with a tea story reaching back to 1423.
TAE includes three matcha expressions — Presence, Surrender and Breathe — plus Stillness, a powdered deep-steamed sencha. Each is chosen for a different cup: water, milk, recipes, or a mellow hot or iced sencha.
In a fast day, preparation can be a small pause: measure, pour, whisk and drink.
TAE — inspired by quiet, enduring beauty.
Sourcing
One region. Four distinctive cups.
The TAE range is sourced from Yame in Fukuoka prefecture. Each product keeps its own harvest, grade and preparation language.
Why Yame
Yame, Fukuoka, is a Japanese tea region whose story reaches back to 1423. Mountain mist, generous rainfall, fertile soils and cool nights have helped shape its refined tea culture.
Product-specific harvests
Presence and Stillness are first-flush selections. Surrender is selected for creamy lattes; Breathe is a versatile culinary matcha for sweet drinks and recipes.
Milled for the cup
Uji and Yame are not quality tiers. Uji carries extraordinary matcha history; Yame is a different regional tradition known for refined teas with depth and balance.
Delivery & care
Getting it to you, fresh.
Matcha is perishable. It oxidises in light, air and heat — so how it is packed and how fast it reaches you matters as much as where it was grown.
Shipping
Dispatched from Sydney within 5 business days. Standard delivery is generally 2–6 business days to metro areas after dispatch, and longer to regional areas.
Free standard shipping on orders $99.95 and over. Tracked with Australia Post.
Packing
Your matcha comes sealed in a protective pouch designed to block light and air, helping preserve its freshness and quality. It is then carefully boxed for delivery.
Storage
Keep it cool, dry and sealed, away from sunlight and the stove. Once opened, drink it within four to six weeks while the aroma is still bright.
If it is not right
We do not offer refunds for change of mind. We accept return requests made within 7 days of receiving your order only where an item is damaged, defective, or incorrect. See our refund policy here.
